JAN BILLS (MUSIC DIRECTOR)
Jan Bills has served as Music Director of the Southern California Mormon Choir since 2008, and previously served as the Choir’s Associate Director. She has also provided harp accompaniment and performed as a soprano soloist with the Choir. Jan received a degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University and taught secondary school choirs and music appreciation. As a professional harpist she has performed as a solo artist, and with orchestras in California and Utah.
BENJAMIN SALISBURY (MUSIC DIRECTOR)
Benjamin Salisbury joined the Southern California Mormon Choir as Associate Music Director in 2014. He earned his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in piano performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music studying with pianist Norman Krieger and composer Morten Lauridsen. Dr. Salisbury holds a position with Steinway & Sons as manager of the Concert & Artist division in the greater Los Angeles area and maintains an active performance calendar. Benjamin and his wife, violinist Caroline Salisbury founded the Gerona Rose Music Studio which offers music instruction to students in the San Gabriel Valley.
COLEEN RHODES THATCHER (ACCOMPANIST)
Coleen Rhodes Thatcher joined the Choir as principal accompanist in 2008. She studied piano with Nina Wilkins at Ricks College, performing the Saint-Saens G minor concerto. She is President of the Dominant Music Club which has honored women musicians in Los Angeles since 1906, and she was Music Director for Covina Center’s 2014 performance of The Fantasticks. Coleen also serves as accompanist for the Sierra Madre Chorale and organist for the St. James United Methodist Church in Pasadena.
